HOUR OF THE WOLF MUST END FOREVER 17 DEC

Building on the landmark success of Because The Night (2021), Malthouse Theatre ambitiously realises Australia’s next chapter of large-scale immersive theatre. Hour of the Wolf introduces you to Hope Hill, a town that is yours to freely explore on the longest night of the year. Interweaving stories unravel the disturbing disappearances occurring between the hours of 3am and 4am. Choose which of the ten characters to follow, pick left or right at the end of every scene, and trace this night from different points of view.

Everyone has their own truth in Hope Hill.

Immerse in the stories and indulge your curiosity by venturing off the path to solve side quests that unearth the history of the town—it might take you one step closer to meeting the myth herself.

Unlock the Hour of the Wolf.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE SHOW?

Before you enter the world of Hour of the Wolf, you will be given a headset to be worn during the performance. The dialogue and narration of the story can be heard via headphones. If you can’t hear audio in the headphones, raise your hand and an Usher will provide you with a new pair. If you have issues with your headset at any time in Hope Hill, try finding a new place to stand, as the audio will change depending on your position. If you continue to have issues, please find an Usher for assistance.

Our characters will not interact with you, and in turn you can’t interact with or touch them. This is for your safety and theirs. Make sure to give room to a character if you feel like they are getting close, and please be aware of other audience members in the same space as you.

There is no use of phones during the performance, including photography and/or video. You will not need your phone to experience the show.

Speaking is not permitted as a courtesy to others.

Food and drink is not allowed in the theatre.

You don’t need to rush from scene to scene, as there will be ample opportunity to encounter all the characters and their stories. For the more curious of you, the rooms that do not have performances in them still have stories to tell. If you ever feel the urge to find those stories, we encourage you to follow the less beaten path.

Special thank you to Hour of the Wolf production supporters Anna Foley & Dashiell Gantner, Circle5 Foundation, Craig Reeves, and Michele Levine.
