PRESENTED BY MULTICULTURAL ARTS VICTORIA AND THE CHINA SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL FOR MAPPING MELBOURNE 2018

METAMORPHOSIS

Metamorphosis, the second instalment of I Am the Silk Road by composer Mindy Meng Wang, uses modern composition method, western musical instruments, electronic music samples, Chinese folk music, religious music, ancient court music and opera elements to create a space where cultures intermingle and are reinvigorated.

BEYOND THE STILLNESS (from China)

The inspiration for the choreography of this performance is the concept of ‘stillness’ from Eastern Aesthetics. Stillness is a delicate state of balance. The language of the dancers’ movements tells the hidden fluctuations occurring beneath a seemingly calm surface and the constant adjustments maintaining a composed appearance. Choreographed by Zheng Jie.
