MELBOURNE GRAMMAR SCHOOL: LORD OF THE FLIES
William Golding’s postwar classic Lord of the Flies exposes the porous border between adolescent civility and dehumanised savagery. This production relocates Nigel Williams’ 1991 theatrical adaptation to an Australian Juvenile Detention Centre.
Rather than rescue, these boys seek escape; escape from incarceration, from each other and from themselves.
All the while, the horror remains, and the beast lurks within and without.
