We are thrilled to announce that Malthouse Theatre's Season 2021 landmark production of unmissable storytelling, Because The Night has been selected for the 2021 VCE Theatre Studies Playlist (Unit 3 & 4).
Malthouse Theatre’s VCE Playlisted production is supported by our award-winning Prompt Pack as well as a Revisit the Play session. Malthouse Theatre's Education Program ensures that both teachers and students have everything required for a deep engagement and rich analysis of these productions.
Malthouse Theatre's acclaimed Prompt Packs will be available online once each production opens. A copy of the script will be provided to schools upon booking.
In lieu of a post show forum for this production, schools will receive free access to a behind the scenes video resource created exclusively for Theatre Studies students. This will be automatically distributed to schools once they have attended the performance.

REVISIT THE PLAY
This is your opportunity to join an extensive revision of the production with a close analysis of archival footage and targeted exercises, in preparation for the VCE written examination. Book tickets to a Revisit the Play session here.
WARNINGS /
This production contains some strong sound and lighting effects, haze, coarse language, and adult content. There is no explicit drug use, but some room designs allude to drug use in the palace. There is a room (accessible only via a secret code) that alludes to being a brothel through its design. There is reference to suicide in the text but not in the action. Please contact the Malthouse Theatre Education team here if you have any questions about the content.
AGE RESTRICTIONS /
Audience members must be 13 years or older to attend. Audience members under 18 years old must be accompanied by a guardian 18 years or older.
DURATION /
Performance duration is approximately 90 minutes.
ACCESSIBILITY /
Because The Night is fully wheelchair accessible with entry via the Gymnasium and the Bedroom entrances. Please note the three entrances permit access to all rooms of the show. Entering from the Royal Office requires ascending and descending a flight of stairs and is not a wheelchair accessible entrance.
This performance requires audience members to move through the space to experience the show.
