Night on Bald Mountain / is  descending, as a nurse travels from the city to the mansion that rests at its peak. She has been employed to take care of the batty, drunk aristocrats, Mr and Mrs Sword, who long ago cut themselves off from society. The nurse is nervous but intrigued to see the notorious estate. Nothing could prepare her for what she will find.

With Night on Bald Mountain, Nobel Prize-winning writer Patrick White takes on the Australian Gothic. In the vein of Picnic at Hanging Rock, this arresting theatre experience abandons its characters within a landscape that / engulfs its trespassers.

An astonishing play portraying White’s desolate vision of a world that must destroy itself before there can be hope.

Julie Forsyth can bring all manner of tears to your eyes in the space of a few heartbeats. She is unquestionably our greatest tragi-comedienne.
