LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGHTER?
The mother and daughter relationship is one of enduring fascination. Think Donatella Versace and her whippet-thin daughter, Simone de Beauvoir at her mothers deathbed, and the tell-all memoirs by Joan Crawfords adopted child. Not to forget the Brangelina brigade. Dr Margaret Reynolds, Reader in History and Contemporary Culture at the University of London and presenter of BBC Radio 4s Adventures in Poetry, guides us on a journey, part investigation and part fantasy, through incarnations of mothers and daughters in Ancient Greece, in Revolutionary France and in the present day. Mommie Dearest, or sweet child o mine ... or is it in all in the eye of the beholder?

Welcome to an audio exhumation, a live interview with a dead writer.
Heiner Müller was the most controversial East German writer of his generation. In March 1990, ABC Radio National reporter Tom Morton interviewed Müller in East Berlin. Over a bottle of whisky they discussed the fall of the Wall, Müllers career as a writer, and the future of Germany after reunification. A Drink With Heiner Müller is a performance piece featuring audio from the interview, texts by Müller, and Tom Mortons reflections on their meeting, the man, and his meaning.
A Drink With Heiner Müller is made possible with support from ABC Radio National and the Goethe Institute as part of the Berlin Dayz Festival.
