We are interested in all artists who are interested in us, and are always eager to engage the rich contemporary performance scene beyond the confines of our own building.
Invite us to see your work
Seeing live work is a great way for us to know who you are and what you make. We may not always be able to get there, but we will make every attempt to send one of our team, given plenty of notice. Three weeks in advance is optimal. Send an invitation to email@example.com and we will circulate it to the relevant staff.
Meet us in person
Introduce yourself to us. You can often catch Malthouse Theatre staff in the foyer or at events, conferences, seminars and shows. If you know who to speak to already – one of our artists or producers – why not suggest a coffee catch-up?
Submit a treatment
If you believe you have a unique proposal which has a strong affinity with our artistic vision, you are welcome to send a two-page treatment to our resident Dramaturg, Mark Pritchard firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you’re submitting a script, please include a one-page synopsis and a short bio to give us some context.
We receive an enormous number of proposals, so we don’t always have the resources to give you direct feedback about your work. If we do see a possible connection with Malthouse Theatre we will contact you.
General auditions for actors
General auditions are held annually around October/November. To be considered for a general audition, please ensure you meet the following criteria:
- At least three years acting experience (or training)
- Current MEAA membership
- Have not auditioned for Malthouse Theatre in the past 3 years
- Based in Victoria
We are particularly interested in seeing actors from culturally diverse backgrounds.
If you are represented by an agent, they should get in touch with us on your behalf. Email us at email@example.com with all general audition requests.
